Registration Acceptance ConditionsIn order to apply to the Medical Genetics PhD program, candidates; a) Must have a master's degree in Medical Genetics or Medical Biology and have at least 55 standard points in the numerical score type from ALES or be successful in internationally accepted exams whose equivalence is determined by the Senate and whose success base points are accepted instead of the ALES result, and those who apply with a bachelor's degree must have at least 80 standard points in the numerical score type from ALES. Those who apply to the PhD program with a bachelor's degree must have a GPA of at least 3 out of 4 or an equivalent score. b) In order to apply to the PhD program in basic medical sciences; medical school graduates must have a bachelor's degree and at least 50 basic medical score or at least 70 standard points in the numerical score type from ALES or be successful in internationally accepted exams whose equivalence is determined by the Senate and whose success base points are accepted instead of the ALES result. Basic Medical score; (TUS) It is obtained by multiplying the standard score obtained from Part I of the Basic Medical Sciences Test by 0.7 and the standard score obtained from the Clinical Medical Sciences Test by 0.3 and adding them together. c) In order to apply to the doctoral program, a minimum score of 55 from YDS or an equivalent score from an exam accepted by the Interuniversity Board is required, and for foreign students, a minimum score of 55 from YDS or an equivalent score from an exam accepted by the Interuniversity Board in a language other than their native language, English, French or German, is required, and the Senate is authorized to increase the aforementioned minimum scores according to the characteristics of the programs to be entered. The success grade for student admission to doctoral programs is calculated by adding 20% ​​of the weighted undergraduate grade point average for applicants with a bachelor's degree, 20% of the weighted graduate grade point average for applicants with a master's degree, 50% of the standard score obtained from ALES, and 30% of the score obtained as a result of the interview conducted by the jury established by the institute's board of directors for each department. In order for a candidate to be considered successful, their success grade must be at least 70. Students are accepted according to the announced quota, sorted from highest to lowest score.
Recognition of Prior LearningThe Medical Genetics PhD Program can accept candidates who have a master's degree in Medical Genetics, Medical Biology or Medical Biology and Genetics or Biochemistry or Molecular Biology and Genetics or Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering or Bioinformatics and Medical Informatics. The recognition of prior formal learning in Turkish Higher Education Institutions, vertical, horizontal and intra-university transfers are carried out within the scope of the "Regulation on the principles of transfer between associate and undergraduate programs in higher education institutions, double major, minor and inter-institutional credit transfer" determined by the Council of Higher Education (http://www.yok.gov.tr/content/view/476/).
Degree Requirements and Rules The students studying in this Ph.D program are required:
to take a minimum of 7 courses with a minimum of 21 local credits
to pass the qualifying examination,
to prepare and defend a doctoral dissertation
to succeed in all the courses with a letter grade of at least CB/S
to have a Cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 2.50/4.00 with a minimum of 240 ECTS credits.
Program ProfileIn the Medical Genetics Doctorate Program, education, training and research activities are provided by 2 Professors, 2 Associate Professor, and 3 Assistant Professors. The language of instruction is Turkish and English. The program includes compulsory and elective courses related to the field of Medical Genetics. Compulsory and elective courses related to the field are taken in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th semesters; thesis work related to the field is carried out in the 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th semesters.
Occupational Profiles of GraduatesWith this program, they are provided with a doctorate to increase their professional qualifications and document their expertise in the field of Medical Genetics, and they have priority in being appointed as academicians in the Ministry of Health and its institutions, University and Private Hospitals, specialized clinics in various fields, and Universities.
Access To Upper DegreeGraduates who successfully complete the doctoral program can apply for an academic position at higher education institutions in Turkey or abroad in the same or similar fields, or as experts at research centers in public institutions.
Exams, Assessment and Grading

To be considered successful, the success grade must be at least 75 points in the doctoral program.
